The Lord’s Supper

For the believer in Christ and His finished work, Communion is a time to remember His gift to you. When you take the unleavened bread, you should remember His sinless life and death. He did something that no one else has ever done: He lived without ever once violating any of God’s commandments. The unleavened bread in this set is matzo, which is striped. The stripes remind you of the welts, scars and bruises that He received at the hands of sinful men. The matzo bread has tiny holes in it, which are there to remind you of the nails that tore through the flesh and bones of His hands and feet. When you lift the cup, you can meditate on His shed blood. We know that Leviticus teaches that the life of the flesh is in the blood. His blood was shed for the whole world and brings you everlasting life. The Communion sets from 'Maranatha Jerusalem' contain grape juice from the very land where Jesus walked. When you hold the cup in your hand, you can exclaim with King David <strong>“I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord!” (Psalm 116)</strong> The cups in the set are made from olive wood. They are handcrafted to remind you the believer of the cross of Christ. He staggered and fell in the streets of Jerusalem from the weight of His cross. His sacrifice for the lost was done from a divine love that exceeded the human capacity of His earthly body. Beyond that, the olive wood reminds Gentile believers that you have been grafted onto the good stock and roots of Israel. It shows you that the promises of the Old Testament are true, and they are for you. The promises of God in His Word are eternal. When you take Communion, you may be alone, or in a group. However, you are obeying the command of our Lord on the night that He began His journey to the cross. He told His followers to partake of the Lord’s Supper to show His death until He returns. When you obey Him, you are testifying of the love and grace of Jesus the Messiah to those who believe, and to those who do not. What better way to commemorate the indescribable love of Almighty God, than with a communion set from the holy land?
